Guwahati: The woman who was found with burnt injuries at her residence in the Christian Basti area of Guwahati has passed away on Friday evening.
The woman identified as Nikita Agarwala Khemka breathed her last at Nemcare hospital around 4:16 pm today.
According to reports, the woman was tortured for a long time by her husband and his family, allegedly for dowry.
She was discovered in a critical state with burn injuries on Friday morning.
It may be noted the victim’s husband identified as Kaushik Khemkak, has been detained by the police and an FIR has been lodged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
It may be mentioned that the couple had been married since 2018.
