Huge Cache of Weapons Recovered During Raid in Udalguri

Guwahati, 3 May: Assam Police recovered a sizable sammount of illicit weapons and ammunition in the Udalguri district of Assam on May 3. Udalguri Police launched a raid today morning based on specific information and found the massive cache of weapons. The number of people arrested in connection with the seizure has not yet been determined. arms and ammunition recovered during raid in Udalguri

Informing about the recovery, Director General of Police GP Singh tweeted stating, “Huge cache of weapons recovered by @udalguripolice. We remain committed to free Assam of all unlawful weapons”.

On April 30, a person was detained with illegal firearms and ammo. The police and community members worked together to devise a trap and catch plan for the offender. The arrestee have been identified as Aminul Islam.

Aminul was detained as he travelled from Arunachal Pradesh to Silapathar. He apparently was detained as he was ready to board another bus headed towards Silapathar after getting off one. An SBBL rifle was discovered to be in the arrested person’s possession. The plan was to transport the gun from Nawboicha in Lakhimpur.
