Guwahati: The 4 Corps Army golf course in Solmara in Tezpur, Assam’s Sonitpur district, will hold the second Inter Club Golf Tournament on January 8 (Sunday).

The BORBHAG Foundation oversees the BORBHAG Cup of the North Eastern region. With golf now an Olympic sport, the goal of this Cup is to increase the sport’s popularity among young people in the area.

Notably, this is the first occasion the army has allowed a public golf tournament to use its golf course.

Anirudh Goswami, the founder of BORBHAG Group, informed, “The BORBHAG Cup was instituted with the vision of contributing to empowering communities through the platform of golf. We are focussed on growing from here. Working with special attention to states of North East India and creating opportunities for youth, we continue to drive our vision of connecting the Globe to the Districts of India and the Districts to the Globe. “

“The competition is an effort by a dedicated group of golfers in their continued quest to popularise the game in North East India. With the vision of blending heritage with the modern world, augmenting & promoting existing infrastructure; strengthening our traditions & building camaraderie,” he further added.

Four states from the area took part in the inaugural competition, which was held on January 3, 2021, and was originally planned with Clubs from Assam. The competition took place at Kellydan Tea Estate’s Misa Polo Club (3 hours from Guwahati).
