ISRO Launches 36 LVM3-M3 One Web Satellites

Guwahati: LVM3-M3 OneWeb India-2, a mission comprising 36 satellites was launched by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on March 26.

The mission launch took place from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

Network Access Associates Ltd. a member of the OneWeb Group and NewSpace India Ltd. the commercial branch of ISRO have agreed to launch 72 satellites into Low-Earth Orbit (LEO). ISRO launched the 36 satellites for OneWeb on October 23, 2022. For the first time ever, the two organisations collaborated on the deployment of satellites.

The first 36 satellites from the OneWeb Group corporation were launched on October 23, 2022.

OneWeb is a global communication network that is powered by space and gives organisations and governments more authority.

In a notification issued on Saturday, ISRO stated, “LVM3-M3/OneWeb India-2 mission.” The company, which has Bharti Enterprises as a major investor, is implementing the constellation of low earth orbit satellites. The counting down has begun.

According to OneWeb, the launch on Sunday would complete the first generation of LEO constellations making it the 18th and third launch of the year.

This would be ISRO’s second launch in 2023 following the successful launch of the SSLV-D2/EOS07 mission in February.

“17 launches completed,” OneWeb stated. Only OneWeb Launch 18 remains a significant launch. We will reach 616 satellites in orbit this weekend (March 26) as we launch another 36 satellites with our colleagues at ISRO and NewSpace India Ltd., which is more than enough satellites to launch global services later this year.”

According to the corporation, the mission would add 36 satellites to the OneWeb fleet and complete the first worldwide LEO constellation ever, making it one of the “most significant milestones” in the history of the organisation.
