Jishnu Dev Varma Vows to Champion Welfare of Tripura and Telangana as Designate-Governor
Northeast Desk, 31st July: The newly appointed Designate-Governor of Telangana and former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, Jishnu Dev Varma, expressed his commitment to the welfare of both Tripura and Telangana as he prepared to assume his new role. Dev Varma made these remarks on July 31 while departing Agartala for Telangana to take his oath of office.
Speaking to reporters, Dev Varma expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Draupadi Murmu for his appointment. “I want to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of India Draupadi Murmu for appointing me as governor. This is the first time since independence that a governor has been appointed from Tripura,” he said.
He mentioned his plans to travel to Telangana for the swearing-in ceremony and then to Delhi the next day to attend a meeting. “Previously, I served as a minister, so this is my first experience in this role. Let’s see what happens. I am going to Telangana and will explore what can be done for the development of Tripura. As the first Governor from Tripura, I will make sure to promote my state, and I will definitely look into what can be done for the state of Tripura,” Dev Varma added.
His remarks reflect a dual commitment to promoting development and welfare initiatives in both states, showcasing his intent to leverage his new position to benefit his home state while serving in Telangana.
