J&K: Jawan with live Grenade arrested at Srinagar Airport

Guwahati: An Army jawan has been arrested on Monday at Srinagar international airport of Jammu and Kashmir after a live hand grenade was found from his baggage.

The jawan has been identified as Balaji Sampath of the Rashtriya Rifle unit.

According to reports, a hand grenade was discovered in the passenger’s checked luggage by Air Asia workers. He immediately informed members of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who were on duty.

Reportedly, Sampath is a resident of Tamil Nadu’s Vellore.

As per the police, the live grenade recovered from his possession is a high explosive.

Meanwhile, senior Army officials have been informed about the incident and further investigation is underway.
