Kamrup (M) district administration released flood helpline numbers for city

Guwahati: The Kamrup (M) district government has recommended residents not to step out unless absolutely necessary due to the continuous rain.

The district government also urged residents not to be alarmed and to call the helpline number in the event of an emergency.

The administration has advised residents to relocate to a safe location if their home or residence is vulnerable to flooding or landslides. A helpline number has also been established for any administration-related assistance-1077/8638112297.

In particular, significant rain has been falling in Assam since Monday night. Floods have overwhelmed the streets of Guwahati as a result of heavy rain. Zoo Road, Chandmari, Hatigaon, Kahilipara, Anil Nagar, Lachit Nagar, and other areas are flooded.

Normal life has been disrupted by flash floods which have inundated most of the area and caused enormous traffic bottlenecks.

In addition, four construction workers were killed in a landslide exacerbated by the city’s constant rains. The event occurred near Nijarapara in Guwahati’s West Boragaon region at 1.30 am on Tuesday.

When the workers in the unorganised sector went to sleep, they were buried alive.
