Kashmiri students attacked in Panjab after India lost to Pakistan in T20 WC

Guwahati: Students from Kashmir were allegedly assaulted and threatened in Panjab after India lost to Pakistan in the first T-20 World Cup cricket match on Sunday night.

According to reports, after India lost by 10 wickets to Pakistan in a T-20 World Cup cricket match yesterday, at least ten Kashmiri students studying at two private educational institutes in Punjab were attacked with rods and sticks, and their hostel rooms were vandalized on Monday.

The incident took place in the Bhai Gurdas Institute of Engineering and Technology of Sangrur town, while another was reported from Rayat Bahrat University in Kharar of Mohali district.

However, they were later rescued by some local Panjabi students.

The victims accused their fellows who belong to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar of assaulting them after entering their rooms. They further said that even the hostel staff did not intervene in their complaints.
