Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan and senior BJP leader Gulab Chand Kataria To Be Next Assam Governor

Guwahati: In a major reshuffle, the leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly and senior BJP leader Gulab Chand Kataria will take over as governor of Assam.

Professor Jagdish Mukhi assumed office as governor of the northeastern state on October 10, 2017.

Politician Gulab Chand Kataria belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He served as the home minister of Rajasthan from 2014 to 2018. He is a prominent BJP leader and a member of the central working committee.

In the midst of changes in the role for various states, Kataria succeeds the current governor of Assam.

According to reports, as many as 13 Indian states will reportedly get new governors.

Meanwhile, reports indicated that Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s resignation had been accepted by President of India, Droupadi Murmu.

Folowing this, Ramesh Bais has been appointed as Maharashtra’s new governor.

Additionally, former Supreme Court judge S Abdul Nazeer has been appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh.

President Murmu has also accepted the resignation of Radha Krishnan Mathur as Lt. Governor of Ladakh, along with appointing Brig. (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd), the present Governor of Arunachal Pradesh as the Lt. Governor of Ladakh.
