Major Arms Haul in Manipur, Three Arrested
Imphal East, Manipur: In a significant operation, Manipur Police arrested three individuals and apprehended a minor in connection with a series of planned criminal activities.
The accused, identified as Ningombam Lemba Singh (25), Mangshatabam Poireinganba Meitei (21), and Laishram Bidyas Singh (21), were apprehended from Kshetrigao Sabal Leikai while loitering with the intent to commit extortion and other prejudicial acts.
Investigations revealed that the arrested individuals were affiliated with the Arambai Tenggol group. A cache of sophisticated weaponry, including a Ghatak rifle, a .32 pistol, and multiple rounds of ammunition, was recovered from their possession.
Simultaneously, security forces conducted raids in other parts of the state. In Churachandpur district, a search operation in Phaikhothang village yielded an SLR rifle, a 9 mm pistol, a 12 bore single barrel gun, and 15 live rounds. Additionally, a sniper, a modified M79 grenade launcher, two 9 mm pistols, an SBBL shotgun, and seven live rounds were seized from Loibol Khunou in Kangpokpi district.
These arrests and recoveries underscore the ongoing efforts of the Manipur Police to dismantle criminal networks and ensure public safety. Further investigations are underway to ascertain the extent of the group’s operations and potential links to other criminal activities.
