Guwahati: One person has been arrested for raping and impregnating a minor girl in Sonitpur district of Assam.
The heinious incident took place five months ago at Dipholichapori area of Jamugurihat.
The accused has been identified as Atawur Rahman.
The accused forcibly kidnapped her and sexually assaulted her while the minor was returning from school.
According to reports, Atawur threatened the girl to keep her family members from learning about the incident.
The girl was admitted to the Tezpur Civil Hospital due to acute stomach pain she had been experiencing for a few days.
The entire incident came to light as her pregnancy was confirmed by the doctors.
The victim’s father filed a FIR at the Jamuguri Police Station in relation to this. According to the girl’s family’s accusations, the accused Atawur was arrested.
