Man slaughtered instead of goat in Andhra Pradesh
Guwahati: A man was slain during an animal sacrifice in Valasapalli, Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district.
According to reports, the incident occurred during the Sankranti celebrations.
The accused, Chalapathi, was to perform the animal sacrifice and cut the goat’s head off. Chalapathi was reportedly drunk at the time of the sacrifice and slit the throat of Suresh, who was holding the animal.
The animal sacrifice took place at the local Yellamma (Andhra Pradesh’s patron deity) temple.
Suresh, who was dripping blood, was transported to the government hospital in Madanpelle, where he was declared dead.
Meanwhile, the police arrested Chalapathi and initiated an investigation into the matter.
It may be mentioned that the deceased Suresh was married and has two children. The police are further inquiring whether Chalapathi had any dispute with Suresh.
