Manipur : Assam Rifles Foils Cross Border Smuggling Of Teak Wood
Guwahati: Shangshak battalion of Assam Rifles under aegis of IGAR (South) of Spear Corps foiled cross border smuggling of teak wood in Kamjong district of Manipur.
The incident took place in the Punamram village of the district.
Based on specific input, troops of Assam Rifles intercepted 30 trucks carrying smuggled teakwood being ferried from across the Indo-Myanmar border.
The recovered teak wood was assessed to be worth Rs 22.08 crore.
The recovered items along with trucks and 17 traffickers were also apprehended in the operation.
The seized trucks with teak wood along with apprehended accused were handed over to Range officer for further legal investigation.
