WB: Crude bombs found near football ground in Birbhum
Birbhum ( West Bengal): Police found crude bombs in a plastic bag on a football field in Sikandar village in West Bengal’s Birbhum district on Sunday. According to news agency ANI, a bomb squad team from the Central Investigation Department (CID) was dispatched to detonate the devices.
The recovery of rudimentary bombs comes as the Central Bureau of Investigation arrives in Bogtui hamlet to investigate the violence that left eight people, including two children, dead.
Following the Birbhum violence, West Bengal police have been conducting raids across the state to retrieve rifles and ammunition. In a drive to capture weaponry and ammunition, eight live bombs and three rifles were discovered in the Jagaddal, Bijpur, and Bhatpara areas.
According to the latest information, the CBI team is currently on the scene of the arson. The burned debris samples were obtained by the team. The case was handed over to the central investigation team by the Calcutta High Court on Friday. The Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory (CFSL) had also gathered samples in Rampurhat town’s violence-plagued area.
“To obtain their side of the storey, we’ll speak with a woman and three people who were hurt in the incident and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital. In Bogtui village, we will also interact with the locals. Personnel from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory will continue their investigations “According to PTI, a CBI officer said.
Because of the intense heat, firemen had to wait ten hours to enter the charred houses, according to a police officer who was the first responder to the fire incident. According to news agency PTI, the officer reportedly alleged that the residences had been ransacked in addition to being set on fire.
The violence in Birbhum has sparked a major political battle between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the opposition, especially the Bharatiya Janata Party. The saffron party has compared the Birbhum site to Nazi concentration camps, calling for President’s Rule to be implemented in the state.
