Manipur Budget session to be Held from Feb 21
Guwahati: The third session of the 12th Manipur legislative assembly would last for eleven days from February 21 to March 3, officials said. There will be three sittings for the session.
In this regard, the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretary K. Meghajit Singh released a provisional calendar of the session on Thursday. The first day session on February 21 will begin with a questions and answers session, followed by the presentation of any committee reports, supplemental grant requests for 2022–2023, and budget estimates for 2023–2024.
According to the assembly’s provisional calendar, the assembly will meet for its second day on February 22. During this time, questions and answers will be taken, and if there is any further business, it will then discuss the supplemental demands for grants for 2022–23 and vote on those demands.
Following a Thursday meeting of the newly established Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, which has seven members and is chaired by Assembly speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh, the tentative calendar of the Manipur assembly’s sessions was released.
The BAC members are Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Water Resource minister Awangbow Newmai, Education Minister Th Basanta Singh,opposition leader & former Chief minister O Ibobi Singh,MLAs Md Abdul Nasir and N Kayisii.
It should be noted that the address by the state governor on February 2 and 3 marked the beginning of the third session of the 12th Manipur legislative assembly.
It should be noted that on February 2, Manipur Governor La Ganesan called the third session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly with the authority granted by Clause (1) of Article 174 of the Indian Constitution.
