Manipur: Large number of arms and ammunition recovered, ahead of election
Guwahati: Ahead of the Assembly election in Manipur, Police seized a huge number of arms and ammunitions in the Leimaram Makha Leikai area of the state.
Talking to My News Northeast, the officials informed that working on input regarding hideout of UG cadres at Leimaram Makha Leikai near Khullak Turel area, a combined team of CDO/BPR, and a column of the 16 AR led by Y. Shakti Shen Singh OC, CDO/ BPR assisted by SI Kishorjit, HC Shanta Singh under the supervision of Addl.SP (Ops) BPR and overall guidance of SP- Bishnupur conducted extensive search operation in between Irengbam Maning to Leimaram Makha Leikai Khullak Turel Mapan in c/w preventive measures taken up for upcoming State General Assembly Election 2022.
Following the search operation, the officials recovered a large number of arms and Ammunition which were kept concealed at the location.
The recovered arms and ammunitions are:
- One 9 mm Pistol (Regd. No.2057 made in Taiwan)
2. One 9 mm Pistol (regd. No. 8593 made in Italy)
3. One 9 mm Pistol (regd. No. 8168 made in Columbia)
- 2(two) Chinese hand Grenade
- 1-COM set (IC-V82)
- 1-COM set charger
- 3 (three) 9 mm Magazines.

- 4(four) nos. Detonator (For PEK)
- 5(five) nos. (0.5 Kg) PEK
- 2(two) nos.Lathode empty case
12. Safety fuse.
It may be mentioned that the above-mentioned arms and ammunitions which were suspected to be hidden by a valley base Insurgent groups were seized and handed over to Nambol Police Station for further investigation.
