Massive Fire Breaks Out in Sivasagar, Property Worth Rs Crores Gutted

Guwahati, 30 May: A massive fire broke out in the heart of Sivasagar town on Monday night. A shop and another building adjacent to the shop were completely gutted after a fire broke out at a cloth shop called ‘Arunas’ on Hospital Road in the city.

The fire broke out at around 10.45 pm. The fire tenders managed to douse the fire at around 2.30 pm.

According to reports, the reason behind it is not clear but it is suspected that the fire is caused due to short circuit. Fortunately, the employees of the shop escaped but goods worth around Rs 4 crore were gutted in the fire.

It is to be noted that with the help of more than 20 fire brigade vehicles, they were able to douse the fire at 2.30pm. Apart from Sivasagar, fire tenders were also brought from Jorhat and Moran.

Sivasagar District Superintendent of Police Shubhrajyoti Bora, District Collector Aditya Vikram Yadav and former Thaora MLA Kushal Duwari visited the spot at night.
