Meghalaya Election Commissioner Reviews Poll Preparedness, Highlights Challenges

Northeast Desk, 16th April: As the polls draw near, the state election commissioner of Meghalaya has conducted a thorough review of the poll preparedness, shedding light on potential challenges that may arise.

Chief Election Commissioner BDR Tiwari emphasized the unique challenges posed by non-motorable polling stations situated in Khasi Hills, citing the region’s weather and terrain as significant factors.

Tiwari underscored Meghalaya’s hilly landscape and heavy rainfall, which present various weather and geographical obstacles. However, he assured that electoral authorities are well-prepared to address these challenges effectively.

Approximately 50 polling stations in the region are inaccessible by vehicles due to their non-motorable nature. Despite this limitation, Tiwari assured the public of preparations to ensure a smooth electoral process.

He reaffirmed the authorities’ readiness to confront adverse weather conditions, highlighting their unwavering commitment to conducting the elections without hindrance.
