Mizoram: India Mourns the Passing of Subedar Thanseia, Distinguished World War II Veteran

Northeast Desk, 1st April: India mourns the loss of Subedar Thanseia, a distinguished World War II veteran of the Indian Army’s Assam Regiment, who passed away at the age of 102 on 31st March 24 after a brief illness.

Subedar Thanseia, hailing from Mizoram, led a remarkable life defined by his valor at the Battle of Kohima and his significant role in establishing the legacy of the 1st Assam Regiment during their deployment at Jessami.

Throughout his service, Subedar Thanseia demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the nation, earning him a revered place in India’s military history. His actions at Kohima contributed to a pivotal victory for the Allied forces, marking a turning point in the conflict in the East.
