Mizoram Registers Over 1033 Cybercrime Cases, 54 Held
Guwahati: There have been a significant increase in Cybercrime incidents in Mizoram. According to DGP Devesh Srivastava, more than 1,033 cybercrime instances had been reported to the state police so far.
DGP stated that the opening ceremony of a three-day hackathon event being organized by the state police and National Institute of Technology(NIT),Aizawl to generate ideas for smart policing that at least 54 people have been detained in connection with cybercrime cases and 16 of them have thus far been found guilty.
He also claimed that the prevalence of cybercrime including financial fraud, sexual cyber harassment, child pornography and crimes or illegal activities carried out via the dark web has increased globally and in Mizoram as well.
Additionally, Srivastava covered a range of topics including cyber security, drug and human trafficking , traffic management in Aizawl and other urgent matters that requied attention.
State Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati attended the Hackathon’s opening ceremony which was organised at the Aizawl police headquarters.
The participants will make an effort to offer suggestions and solutions for resolving problems that the police face on a daily basis during the Hackathon event.
