Mon Tragedy: Police lodges FIR against Para Military Force
Guwahati: Nagaland Police has registered an FIR against the 21st Para Military Force in connection with the Oting firing incident at the Mon district of Nagaland where at least 16 people lost their lives.
The FIR read that the intention of the security forces was to “kill and hurt civilians” because the operation was carried out without any prior notification or requisition for a local police guide.
It added, “It is to be noted that at the time of the incident, there was no local police guide nor did the security forces requisition to the police station to provide police guide for their operation. Hence, it is obvious that the intention of security forces was to murder and injure civilians.”
Explaining the incident the FIR says, “At 3.30 pm, coal mine labourers of Oting village were returning to their native village, the security forces blankly open fired at the vehicle without any provocation resulting in the killing of many villagers and seriously injuring many others.”
