Nagaland Baptist Church Council Launches 152-Hour Prayer Chain Ahead of General Election

Northeast Desk, 3rd April: In anticipation of the forthcoming 2024 General Election, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has issued a powerful call to unity and prayer, initiating a 152-hour chain of prayer set to commence on April 12, 2024. This spiritual endeavor aims to foster deep levels of unity among Christians and intercede for the nation, with a particular focus on Nagaland, during this pivotal moment in its history.

Drawing inspiration from the biblical passage Ezekiel 22:30, which emphasizes the need for individuals to stand in the gap before God on behalf of their land, Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, General Secretary of NBCC, underscored the urgency of this intercessory prayer. He highlighted its pivotal role in bridging the gap between God and the nation, especially in times of uncertainty and complexity.

The 152-hour prayer initiative symbolizes the 152 years of Christianity in Nagaland, signifying a continuous and enduring commitment to prayer amidst the challenges faced by the region and the nation as a whole. Rev. Keyho likened prayer to a spiritual fortress, akin to the protective walls of ancient cities, safeguarding communities amidst the complexities of modern society.

Acknowledging the prevailing sense of disconnect felt by the people of Nagaland from mainland India, Rev. Keyho addressed the apprehensions surrounding the socio-political and religious landscape. He emphasized that the call for prayer transcends partisan interests, focusing instead on invoking divine guidance for the nation’s leadership.

Rev. Keyho stressed the importance of conscientious leadership that upholds principles of justice, equality, and religious freedom, fostering an environment where all citizens feel secure and valued.

Urging believers to present their requests to God with thanksgiving, even amidst uncertainty, Rev. Keyho echoed the words of the apostle Paul. He emphasized that the call to prayer is not merely a plea for divine intervention but an affirmation of faith in God’s sovereignty and transformative power.

With unwavering faith and fervent prayer, the NBCC embarks on a journey of spiritual unity and intercession, trusting in God’s faithfulness to His people and His enduring presence amidst the challenges of the times. As believers stand in the gap, invoking God’s blessings and guidance for the nation, they exemplify the power of unity and prayer to effect positive change in the nation’s destiny.
