NCHAC allots 30 bighas land for establishment of cricket playground

Haflong: To develop a sense of sports among youths in Dima Hasao district, the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) allotted 30 bigha of land to Assam Cricket Association (ACA) at New Tumbung village in Umrongso for establishment of cricket playground/stadium in the district.

To be mention that Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has been serving the State of Assam for decades by providing facilities necessary for promotion and development of the game of cricket across Assam. ACA have also all the required expertise in the form of manpower (curator) and equipment for preparing and maintaining playing crickets. The association have also undertaken the infrastructure development activities in many University & College grounds along with cricket infrastructure development at various districts of the State.

NCHAC CEM Debolal Gorlosa said that once the ground is complete aspiring and cricket enthusiast can practice and hold tournaments. He also said that ACA will starts construction within a month and hope its completion within a year. He also informed that unlike other playground it will not have concrete gallery, wall etc. but will be constructs at the same time by conserving the forest environment and the stadium surrounded by trees and natural beauties like of western style like New Zealand, Australia etc. and at the same time peoples can enjoy the natural beauties an in coming years it will inspire parents to assist their children in pursuing sports career.

The exclusive cricket stadium is a long pending demand/requirement in the district where the budding cricketers can enhance their skill and excel. The stadium will be construct on the Southern part of Umrongso golf course with proper cricket infrastructure in the form of cricket pavilion, turf pitches, practice pitches etc. and once completed it will also have an opportunity to host BCCI/ACA/ District Sports Association approved matches in near future.
