Assam AAP leader quits party, might join BJP

Guwahati: With certain political developments taking place in Assam, on Saturday Aam Aadmi Party’s state organizational secretary, Madhurjya Saikia resigned from the party even before the party could make any existence in the political scenario in the state.

Saikia claimed that he was resigning from the primary membership of the party owing to some “personal commitments”. He was involved with the party since 2019 and further was also preparing to contest the Assam Assembly Elections 2021 from the Dispur constituency but the central leadership did not allow the party to contest in Assam.

The Arvind Kejriwal led party has been trying to set a strong base in Assam but a clear lack of proper leaders is visible. In Assam the AAP is led by Bhaben Choudhury who is doctor by profession and over the past few years, he along with certain other state leaders have tried to create a strong base in the state.

As per sources, Saikia might soon join the BJP just like some Congress leaders. However, Saikia claimed that he is yet to make a decision regarding him joining the BJP.
