Shillong: BJP Minister Sanbor Shullai from Meghalaya on Saturday said that people should eat more beef in Meghalaya and he will have a discussion with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma so that there are no disruption in the supply of cattle in Meghalaya.
Shullai who is took charge as minister in the Conrad Sangma cabinet last week had urged the people in Meghalaya to eat more beef instead of other meat products such as chicken, mutton or fish. He claimed that people are free to eat whatever they want and so eating beef in Meghalaya should be encouraged.
He claimed that people need to be encouraged eating more beef so that the perception that the BJP might ban beef will be “dispelled”.
He added that he will soon have a discussion with Assam CM so that due to the new bill related to the Cattle preservation in Assam does not affect Meghalaya in terms of cattle transportation and also to ensure the proper transportation of cattle in the state.
