Northeast Desk, 3rd April: New details have surfaced surrounding the tragic deaths of three Malayalis in a hotel in Arunachal Pradesh’s Zero.
According to the police, the victims’ wrists were found slit, and evidence of a cut was also observed on one of the victim’s necks.
The deceased individuals are identified as Kottayam couple Naveen Thomas (35) and Devi (35), along with their friend Arya B Nair (20) from Thiruvananthapuram. Their bodies were discovered at the Blue Pine Hotel in Ziro, Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, with Arya found on the cot, Naveen in the bathroom, and Devi on the floor.
Furthermore, the police disclosed that Naveen Thomas failed to provide documents for Devi and Arya B Nair upon entry to the hotel.
Arunachal Pradesh police have notified the families of the deceased, and autopsies will be conducted before the bodies are handed over to the families. The bodies have been sent to TRIMS Hospital in Naharlagun for forensic tests, and the families, along with Kerala Police, have already departed for Naharlagun.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident was a case of suicide, and the three individuals were allegedly influenced by tantric practices.
Arya, who worked as a teacher at a private school in Thiruvananthapuram, was reported missing on March 26, prompting the Vattiyurkavu police to register a case based on a complaint from the parents.
After Arya’s mobile phone was found switched off near Parottukonam, the police’s attempts to trace the phone’s location were unsuccessful. It was later discovered that Arya had traveled to Guwahati with Devi, a close friend who previously taught German at the same school, along with Naveen, who was a former bakery owner.
Details indicate that on March 28, at 1:15, the victims checked into Hotel Blue Pine in Zero, with one of them introduced to the hotel authorities as their daughter.
