Arunachal Christian Forum Endorses Congress Candidates Ahead of Elections

Northeast Desk, 3rd April: In a notable move ahead of the parliamentary elections in Arunachal Pradesh, the Arunachal Christian Forum (ACF) has thrown its support behind the Congress party’s candidates. ACF, in a circular dated March 26, 2024, officially endorsed Shri Bosiram Siram for the East Arunachal parliamentary constituency and Shri Nabam Tuki for the West Arunachal parliamentary constituency.

The circular, issued by ACF, called upon all member organizations and denominational groups affiliated with the forum to unite behind the candidatures of Siram and Tuki.

However, the endorsement has sparked controversy, with Chief Minister Pema Khandu accusing the Congress party of resorting to religious polarization in Arunachal Pradesh’s political arena. Khandu expressed apprehension over the politicization of religion and cautioned against employing divisive tactics during the electoral process.

The endorsement by ACF of the Congress candidates for parliamentary seats marks a significant development in Arunachal Pradesh’s political landscape. It sets the stage for a potentially contentious electoral contest as parties vie for support ahead of the forthcoming elections.
