New Twist In Guwahati Murder Case As Neighbour Goes Missing
Guwahati: Police have found on Wednesday that one of the neighbours renting a room in the residence of the primary accused, Bondona Kalita, had mysteriously vanished, adding yet another wrinkle to the twin murder case that has shaken Guwahati.
This comes after the Shraddha Walkar-like murder case in Guwahati’s Noonmati area shocked the people of Assam. A group of forensic investigators visited Bondona Kalita’s home, the scene of the crime, in relation to the case.
The forensics squad arrived in search of information regarding the murder. A group of Guwahati Police officers also followed them. Police learned of the mysterious disappearance of one of the tenants who had rented space from the primary accused Bondona Kalita during the course of their inquiry at the crime site.
According to Guwahati Police, the student, who was living on rent there, has been missing for the past five days. These details will undoubtedly bring a fresh perspective to the inquiry into the double murder of Amarjyoti Dey, Bondona Kalita’s husband, and her mother-in-law Shankari Dey.
The forensic team gathered the necessary samples in the interim and then departed the scene. The Guwahati Police have already begun an investigation into the student’s disappearance.
It should be noted that on February 19, a horrific double murder in Guwahati was unearthed after police questioned the prime accused.
During interrogation, Bondona Kalita, the accused revealed to the police that she had killed her husband Amarjyoti Dey and her mother-in-law Shaknari Dey along with two accomplices. After carrying out the murder, the three proceeded to dismember the victims’ bodies and store them for three days in a refrigerator.
It also came to light that Bondona Kalita had gone to the police to report a missing person after killing her mother-in-law and husband last year.
After that, the accused dispersed the body parts throughout the neighbouring state of Meghalaya. Later as the details of the murder came to the fore, police arrested all three involved and took them to Meghalaya where they were able to recover parts of the husband’s body.
Police initially thought that the accused Bondona Kalita’s extramarital affairs with other men were the reason for the murder. This was also corroborated by the neighbours who mentioned spotting her with other men frequently.
