PM Modi Gets 78% Approval Rating As Global Leader

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a 78 percent approval rating making him the most popular leader in the entire world, according to a survey conducted by the US-based consulting firm “Morning Consult”.

Prime Minister Modi has higher approval ratings than other world leaders such as US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The poll surveyed 22 global leaders for the ratings.

According to the research company Political Intelligence, the “Global Leader Approval” study is based on data gathered from January 26 to January 31 of this year. Sample sizes varied by country and adults in each were given a seven-day moving average.

Compared to US President Joe Biden who received 40% of the vote, PM Modi received 78% of the vote. With 68% of the vote, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador placed second, followed by Swiss President Alain Berset who received 62% of the vote.

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 2022 has been a remarkable year in the history of India’s foreign policy. His advise to Russian President Vladimir Putin that “this is not an era of war” found reverberation around the world.

With every nation taking a side in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the world is on the verge of entering World War III. However, PM Modi put his trust in the UN and sided with peace, requesting that both nations use “dialogue and diplomacy” to resolve the issue.

The US and other Western nations applauded PM Modi’s comments that “now is not the time for conflict” during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in September.

India’s approach in a multipolar world seems to be to steer clear of great-power rivalry and forge its own, nonaligned course.

Data from a US surveillance company shows that 78% of respondents favour of Prime Minister Modi, while only 18% disapprove of him. The third week of January saw an improvement in PM Modi’s approval rating, which now stands at 79%.

US Vice President Joe Biden is now at number seven on the list, which is updated on a regular basis. Jonas Gahr Store, the prime minister of Norway, Yoon Seok-youl, the president of South Korea, and Fumio Kishida, the prime minister of Japan, were the final three leaders in the list of the 22 nations.

Giorgia Meloni, the first female prime minister of Italy and a freshly elected far-right leader, is ranked sixth with 52% of the vote.

The survey also featured Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in 4th place with a 58 per cent approval rating.

Brazil’s newly elected President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was placed at number 5 with 50 per cent ratings, the Canadian Prime Minister was at number 9th position with 40 per cent approvals and UK’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was in 12th position with 30 per cent approvals.
