PMAY-G: PM to transfer first instalment to 1.47 lakh beneficiaries
Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will transfer the first instalment of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) to more than 1.47 lakh beneficiaries of Tripura on Sunday.
Earlier an official notification was released by the Prime Minister’s office which read “More than Rs 700 crores would be credited immediately to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries on the occasion.”
PMAY-G is a central government initiative with the purpose of providing “housing for all.” As India celebrates 75 years of independence in 2022, the initiative hopes to meet housing goals.
The PMO stated that the criteria of what counts as a “kaccha” dwelling has been amended expressly for Tripura due to the state’s unique geo-climatic conditions.
The notification further added that following PM Modi’s intervention, the definition of “kuccha” house has been changed specifically for Tripura, taking into account the state’s unique geo-climatic conditions, allowing a large number of beneficiaries living in “kuccha” houses to receive assistance in constructing a “pucca” house.
It may be mentioned that under the flagship Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) initiative, Tripura was the ‘best-performing state’ in the north-eastern region and hilly states category last year
