PM’s visit to Manipur: Two arrested with IED

Imphal (Manipur): Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Manipur for the election rally two suspected terrorists were arrested by the police.

The two suspected terrorists were arrested with an IED from an area near Kangpokpi in Manipur.

According to reports, A conspiracy was being hatched to carry out a blast in a VVIP convoy on the way from Imphal to Kangpokpi.

Manipur will go to polls in two phases on February 28 and March 5.

Reports further claimed that both the arrested terrorists are associated with a separatist organization called the National Socialist Council of Nagaland. The police team is interrogating the two terrorists and trying to find out who they were going to target.

The arrestees were brought to the Sekmai police station. Meanwhile  their associates attacked the police station at night. After which the police had to fire tear gas shells and resort to aerial firing.
