Polling Personnel Deployed for Smooth Conduct of East Parliamentary Constituency Poll in Tripura

Northeast Desk, 25th April: Over 16,000 polling personnel, accompanied by police personnel, have embarked on their journey to their respective polling stations with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the East (ST) Parliamentary Constituency poll scheduled for April 26.

In this constituency, BJP candidate Kriti Singh Debbarma will contest against INDI Bloc candidate and CPIM leader Rajendra Reang. The constituency covers all assembly constituencies of Dhalai, North, Unakoti, Khowai, and four ACs of South Tripura and three ACs of Gomati district.

Polling personnel have been gathering the EVM machines since morning at designated centers in Ambassa of Dhalai District, Dharmanagar in North District, and other locations where dispersal and receive centers are set up.

Saju Vaheed, the Returning Officer for the East (ST) Parliamentary Constituency, mentioned that the dispatched EVMs have begun their journey since morning. He highlighted the establishment of six Receive and Dispersal Centers and the formation of 15 Clusters and 31 Quick Response Teams to ensure peace and address any issues on polling day.

CCTV cameras have been installed in all 379 polling stations in Dhalai district, and a dry run has been conducted to ensure their smooth functioning. More than 16,000 polling personnel and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed for the East Parliamentary Constituency.

The RO expressed gratitude to all polling personnel and anticipated their arrival at designated stations by 4 or 4:30 PM. He also assured adequate security measures for conducting free, fair, and peaceful elections across the constituency, which encompasses a total of 1664 polling stations.
