Presidential Elections to be held on July 18, results on July 21

Guwahati: The presidential elections of 2022 will be held on July 18.

This was announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday. Meanwhile, the votes will be counted on July 21.

The deadline for election notification is June 15. The deadline for nominations is June 29, and the deadline for inspection is June 30. The deadline for withdrawing candidatures is July 2.

A total of 4,809 electors will vote in the Presidential elections. No other political party has the authority to impose a whip on its members.

President Ram Nath Kovind’s term will come to an end On July 24. According to Article 62 of the Constitution, the next president must be elected before the current president’s tenure ends. The new president has to be sworn in by July 25.

The President in India is chosen by members of the Electoral College which consists of elected members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

The presidential election was previously held on July 17, 2017, while the declaration of the winner was made three days later on July 20.
