Probe Into Junmoni Rabha’s Death Case Handed Over to CBI

Guwahati, 20 May: Assam Government has decided to hand over the investigation into Junmoni Rabha’s death handed over to CBI. Director General of Police has requested for a CBI probe. It needs to be mentioned that the family of SI Junmoni Rabha demanding CBI enquiry into the murder case.

Meanwhile, Superintendents of police of Nagaon and Lakhimpur have been transferred. Nagaon Superintendent of Police Leena Doley has been transferred and Lakhimpur superintendent of police Vedanta Madhav Rajkhowa has also been transferred. Additionally, several police officers from both the districts have been transferred.

Earlier, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma gave his opinion on the pending inquiry regarding Junmoni Rabha’s death case. Chief Minister addressed the issues raised by the case and gave the assurance that an exhaustive inquiry is ongoing.

The incident that led to Junmoni Rabha’s death has generated a lot of conversation and raised a lot of issues. The investigation has been taken up by the CID (Criminal Investigation Department), which is working to clarify the incident’s circumstances.

Chief Minister Sarma conveyed his condolences and acknowledged the seriousness of the situation while highlighting the value of transparency during the probe. He stated, “If anyone is found to be involved in the death of Jonmoni Rabha, they must face appropriate punishment.”
