Renowned Author Vijay Kumar Dewan No More

Guwahati: Vijay Kumar Dewan, a well-known novelist from Guwahati passed away suddenly on January 18 in Guwahati after suffering from major health issues.

More than one hundred legal volumes were authored by Dewan, who died at the age of 78. He participated in numerous organizations including the All India Cine Writers Association, Punjabi Sabha, Cooperative Bank, Bar Council and Lions Club International, among others, and had been socially involved in a number of causes.

Vijay Kumar Dewan worked as a lawyer. In his early years, from 1968 to 1972, he had been a lawyer. His 1973 manuscript, “Rent Control Legislation,” was published by Orient Law House in 1975. He then published a number of more publications on the subject of law.

He wrote on a variety of topics, including the North East local Acts, Cases, and Materials on IPC, the Indian Prosecution System, Law of Injunction, Key to Injunction, Consumer Digest, Election Lows, Terrorist Act, Commentary on Arbitration Act (2 volumes), Criminal References in 2 volumes, Bail and Remand, Low relating to Dowry, Low relating to Offenses Against Women, Low of Maintenance, Low relating to Foreigners and Citizenship, and Dishonour of Check and a few others; Supreme Court on Civil References from 1950 to 2001 in 4 volumes.

Cruelty & Offenses against Husband was the last book written by Vijay Kumar Dewan.

His abrupt passing has devastated his family members. He is survived by two daughters and a son.
