Road construction Supervisor abducted in Arunachal Pradesh
Guwahati: A supervisor of a road construction company has been abducted by unknown miscreants from Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
The victim has been identified as Rahul Sharma who is a resident of Ratangarh in Churu district of Rajasthan.
According to reports, three road construction workers were kidnapped by alleged Yung Aung-led National Socialist Council of Nagalim cadres from the Arunachal Pradesh-Nagaland border in Longding district two weeks ago.
Sharma was engaged in the construction of Miao-Vijaynagar road of the district.
According to the FIR, a copy of which has been accessed by EastMojo, the kidnapping took place on February 16 when the supervisor was travelling from 56 mile towards Mioa with a company staff.
“Two unknown masked men stopped the vehicle near 53 miles, on Miao-Vijaynagar road, and took Rahul Sharma along with them towards the jungle,” the FIR, filed almost a week later on February 23, read.
The complainant further added that the reason for the delay in filing the FIR was because Sharma’s life was in danger.
On the condition of anonymity, an Arunachal police source said it is yet unclear whether the incident is the work of miscreants or a banned group. “The FIR does not state whether the individuals were armed, and the family has not yet received any extortion threats.”
“An abduction complaint has been filed, and investigations are ongoing,” the insider stated.
According to sources, the police and army have initiated a large search effort, but there has been no breakthrough so yet, despite security forces being on high alert.
“The previous night, two armed guys kidnapped Balbir Singh, the staff member who was escorting Rahul Sharma, but he was freed after a few hours.” “They questioned him about the company owner’s location, junior engineer,” reports claimed.
Meanwhile, attempts to contact Kaushal Sharma, the victim’s nephew, were unsuccessful.
