Santosh Hojai Murder Row | Alvin Hojai admits his involvement

Haflong: The prime suspect of the Harangajao abduction and murder case, Alvin Hojai has admitted to his crime during crime scene reconstruction by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Harangajao.

In exclusive video footage, DNLA cadre Alvin Hojai was seen admitting his crime and his involvement in the abduction of businessman Santosh Hojai.

Alvin Hojai, the prime suspect was arrested by a team of Assam Rifles from a hotel in Dimapur on April 20.

Santosh Hojai was abducted by five unidentified persons from his house at Damadi Hawar in April 2020 during the ongoing lockdown. Six days later Hojai’s decomposed and partly burnt body was found buried near NH 27 road, 100km away from his home at Lailing reserve forest under Langting police station in Dima Hasao district.

Later the body was exhumed in presence of an executive magistrate.

After more than a year of the case being under investigation, the case reached its final stage and CID may file a charge sheet in a few weeks. There are expectations that some more names might also come forward. The investigating team has already interrogated all persons who were alleged or suspected to have been involved in the case.

In June 2020 the Gauhati High Court ordered the Assam Director General of Police to entrust CID into the investigation. Later in November 2020, two police constables who were allegedly involved in the case were arrested by the CID.
