Serum Institute of India suffers financial loss of over ₹1,000 crore due to fire
The Serum Institute of India have suffered financial losses of more than ₹1,000 crore due to the fire that broke out in under-installation building of SII plant at Manjari, Pune on Thursday. However the fire had no impact on the production of ‘Covishield’ vaccine and no damage has occurred to the existing stock either.
The CEO of Serum Institute of India has said “The supply of COVID-19 vaccine won’t be affected due to the fire.” No actual vaccine was being made at that facility. The extent of the damage is more than ₹1,000 crore.”
