Sharad Pawar meets PM , raises issues over ED raid against Sanjay Raut

Guwahati: Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for 20 minutes at the PM’s Office in Parliament on Wednesday.

The meeting took place a day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) attached the assets of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s wife and one of his friends in a money-laundering inquiry tied to specific land deals.

“I spoke to the Prime Minister on the case involving Rajya Sabha (RS) member Sanjay Raut,” Sharad Pawar told reporters after the meeting. I told him that Raut’s properties had been attached in an unfair manner.

“I told the PM that Sanjay Raut is not just an RS member, but also a journalist,” Sharad Pawar remarked.

In a separate development, the CBI has taken former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh into custody and placed him under arrest in connection with allegations of corruption levelled against him by former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh.
