Sikkim CM Honored at Sakela Uvauli 2024 Festival by Kirat Khambu Rai Sanskritik Sansthan

Northeast Desk, 26th May: The Kirat Khambu Rai Sanskritik Sansthan (KKRSS) bestowed honors upon Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on May 26, marking the grand culmination of the two-day Sakela Uvauli 2024 Festival.

The event, held at Darjeeling Chowrasta, showcased a diverse range of cultural performances and traditional rituals celebrating the rich heritage of the Kirat Khambu Rai community.

Chief Minister Tamang, attending as the chief guest, was joined by Darjeeling GTA Chief Anit Thapa and several other dignitaries. The festival, moderated by RJ Prabal Rai, commenced early in the morning with the arrival of Mangma for Mangsewa prayers at Mahakal Dara Mangkhim.

The day’s schedule featured a solidarity procession involving Mangma, Mangpa, and Sili groups, leading the chief guest and distinguished attendees to the Open Air Theatre.

Upon arrival, Chief Minister Tamang and other guests participated in traditional prayers, followed by a series of speeches and cultural presentations.

Highlights included a welcome speech by Mani Rai in Bantawa language, a presentation on the significance of the Sakela festival by Smriti Rai and Surekha Rai, and performances of the KKRSS title song by Shudhir Rai and his team.
