Sikkim: SDF Lodges Formal Complaint Against SKM Party for Alleged Violations of Model Code of Conduct

Northeast Desk, 15th April: Representatives from the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party have lodged a formal complaint with the State Election Commission (CEO), alleging significant violations of the Model Code of Conduct by the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) Party.

The complaint revolves around an event titled Vidhyarthi Sammelan, organized by the SKM Party at Manan Kendra, where reports suggest students were allegedly summoned and cash or monetary incentives may have been distributed to certain attendees. Such actions, if substantiated, are deemed unlawful and raise serious concerns regarding the integrity of the electoral process.

The SDF Party vehemently condemns these alleged violations, stressing the importance of upholding democratic principles. Engaging in such activities not only undermines democracy but also contravenes the guidelines of the Model Code of Conduct, eroding public trust in the electoral system’s fairness and transparency.

Through this complaint, the SDF Party seeks a thorough investigation by the State Election Commission to address these infractions and uphold accountability and justice, essential for safeguarding democratic ideals.
