Slain Journalist Danish Siddiqui wins Pulitzer Prize

Guwahati: Journalist Danish Siddiqui who died while documenting the battle, has been awarded the Pulitzer Prize for feature photography for his coverage of the Covid situation in India.

Moreover, Adnan Abidi, Sanna Irshad Mattoo, and Amit Dave, all Reuters journalists, were also awarded the Pulitzer Prize.

Danish Siddiqui, headquartered in India, was the Chief Photographer for Reuters. He earned an economics degree from Jamia Millia Islamia and went on to do post-graduate studies in mass communication there. As part of a team of photographers, he won the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography in 2018 for chronicling the Rohingya refugee crisis.

It may be mentioned that Danish was killed on July 16 last year while covering a clash between Afghan security forces and Taliban forces in Spin Boldak, near the Pakistan border. Siddiqui is survived by his two children and wife, a German national.

It is to be noted that as a photojournalist, Danish Siddiqui covered a wide range of issues across the world.
