Sonia Gandhi tests positive for COVID-19

Guwahati: Congress President Sonia Gandhi tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, a few days before the Enforcement Directorate issued a summons in the National Herald case.

Sonia Gandhi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will appear before the investigation agency on June 8.

“Sonia Gandhi, the Congress president has tested positive for COVID-19. She has a moderate fever and some symptoms, has secluded herself, and has received the necessary medical care. “Her date of appearance before the ED on June 8th remains same as of today,” stated party leader Randeep Surjewala.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi has written to the investigation agency, requesting that the date be postponed until June 5 because he is out of the country, according to Singhvi and another Congress politician, Randeep Surjewala.

A complaint was recently filed to investigate potential financial irregularities at the party-backed Young Indian, which owns the National Herald newspaper.

Officials said the agency wants to record Sonia and Rahul Gandhi’s comments under criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
