Sri Lankan Navy captures 9 Indian Fisherman, 1 Boat seized

At least 9 Indian fisherman were arrested by the Sri Lankan navy for allegedly trespassing and fishing in the Sri Lankan waters. The boat of the Indian fishermen were also seized. The Sri Lankan Navy arrested the fishermen of India in Neduntheevu near Palk Strait.

However, the Sri Lankan Navy allegedly damaged fishing nets in 20 merchandised boats near Katchatheevu. They allegedly also pelted stones and hurled bottles at the Indian fisherman. Indian Fishermen’s association representative Sesuraja condemned the acts of the Sri Lankan Navy.
