Tripura: Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma and Sudip Roy Barman Clash Over CAA Implementation in TTAADC

Northeast Desk, 21st May: The founder of Tipra Motha, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman are engaged in a heated exchange over the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

In response to Roy Barman’s remarks accusing Tipra Motha of silence on the CAA after forming an alliance with the BJP, Pradyot refuted the allegations, highlighting Roy Barman’s political journey across multiple parties.

Pradyot emphasized that Tipra Motha is actively fighting against the CAA in the Supreme Court and reiterated their commitment to opposing its implementation in TTAADC. He criticized Roy Barman for not addressing the concerns of indigenous people living outside ADC areas and accused him of viewing the community as a mere vote bank.

Furthermore, Pradyot criticized the Congress party for its role in making indigenous people a minority in Tripura and urged indigenous people to engage in strategic thinking rather than emotional reactions.

The exchange underscores the ongoing tensions and diverging perspectives within Tripura’s political landscape regarding the CAA and indigenous rights.
