Assam: Attempted Kidnapping of 10-Year-Old Boy Sparks Panic in Mariani of Jorhat

Guwahati, 21st May: In a chilling incident, a group of unidentified miscreants attempted to kidnap a 10-year-old boy, the son of Ram Singh Bhumi, from the Seleng Tea Estate in Mariani, Jorhat district, on Tuesday midnight.

According to reports, the child had accompanied his parents to a marriage party earlier in the evening. Upon returning home, the boy ventured out of his house to use the restroom. It was then that three unidentified miscreants arrived in a Maruti van, swiftly grabbed the child, gagged him with a cloth, and fled the scene.

The miscreants transported the boy to an undisclosed location approximately 20 kilometers away from his residence. Fortunately, the child regained consciousness and managed to escape while the kidnappers stopped momentarily.

Ram Singh Bhumi, the father of the victim, recounted the harrowing experience, stating, “My son was unconscious during the kidnapping. He miraculously escaped when the kidnappers halted temporarily. We learned about the incident only after my son returned home.”

The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the area, leaving residents on edge. The alleged kidnappers remain at large, prompting heightened concern among locals and law enforcement authorities.
