Tripura Youth Dies In Rehab In Assam’s Silchar
Guwahati: A youth from the state’s North Tripura district died from his injuries after allegedly sliding and falling down inside the premises of a drug rehabilitation centre in Silchar of Assam.
According to reports, Bapan Das, a resident of Panisagar sub-division in North Tripura was admitted for a long time to a drug rehabilitation centre run by Disha Foundation in Silchar to cure his addiction difficulties.
The deceased’s family reported that they were in frequent contact with the rehabilitation centre to keep an eye on him.
However, they learned on Sunday that Das had slipped and fallen and suffered serious injuries as a result of the incident.
The family members were told of their son’s death via another phone call a short time later after which they raced to Silchar, according to the deceased’s father.
The father claimed that they arrived at Silchar late at night and were unable to locate Das’ body. They finally recovered the body the next day, with the help of Silchar police and it was submitted for an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.
Meanwhile, the family has filed a FIR against the organisation claiming that their son’s death was the result of foul play.
His body was eventually returned to the family today and last rites will be performed, according to a family member.
He said, “We can’t believe what’s occurred. We used to check in with Bapan on a regular basis to see how he was doing.”
“Something must have happened; so, we’ve decided to submit a police report here,” he added.
