Two killed in a road accident in Baksa
Guwahati: Two youths were killed in a tragic road accident near Barama on National Highway 13 in Assam’s Baksa district on Tuesday.
The two deceased youths have been identified as Mintu Deka is a resident of Guwahati’s Lalmati and Dhanmani Das of Baksa’s Jalah village.
According to reports, they were heading towards Jalah village of Baksa district from Guwahati, when they met the accident and died on the spot.
The accident is believed to have happened in the wee hours last night near the Barama flyover. Both the rider and the pillion died on the spot after meeting with the accident with an unidentified vehicle.
However, their bodies were found lying on the roadside by locals.
Upon receiving information about the accident, police rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies of the two deceased youths, and sent for post-mortem reports.
Meanwhile, the vehicle that caused the accident has eluded identification after fleeing the site.
It may be mentioned that Locals alleged that the number of accidents in the neighbourhood has increased alarmingly and that the area has become accident-prone.
They further claimed that local authorities had been notified of the incident and had been requested to take action to reduce speeding in the region.
