Ukraine President to release prisoners with ‘Military Experience’ to fight against Russia
Guwahati: President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he will release prisoners who have combat experience if they want to join the fight against Russia.
Zelensky announced this during a speech in Kyiv as a Ukrainian delegation and Russian representatives met at the Belarusian border for a peace talk.
“Save your lives and depart,” Putin said, urging Russian soldiers in Ukraine to lay down their arms.
“Drop everything you’ve got. Please get out of here. Don’t take your officers’ word for it. Don’t believe what your propagandists are telling you. “All you have to do now is preserve your life,” he advised.
According to Zelensky, 4,500 Russian servicemen have been killed in the fight thus far.
He also stated that in the last four days, 16 Ukrainian children have been killed and 45 have been injured.
Zelensky has pushed the European Union to grant immediate membership to his country.
He said, “We call to the European Union for Ukraine’s immediate entry via a new special procedure.”
“Our goal is to be together with all Europeans and, most importantly, to be on an equal footing. I’m sure it’s fair. I’m sure it’s possible.”
President Zelensky said the next 24 hours will be “crucial” for his country, but he also warned there is little chance of genuine conversation in Belarusian negotiations with Russia.
Russia’s financial woes have worsened as the rouble’s value has fallen and the country has been obliged to boost its key bank rate to 20% as a result of strong sanctions imposed to punish and isolate the country.
Early Monday, the Russian currency fell over 26% against the US dollar when countries stopped Russian banks from using the Swift global payment system, which is critical to the efficient operation of international trade.
