UP: 7 Killed in Head-on Collision in Bareilly

Guwahati: In a horrendous incident, at least seven people died as an ambulance collided with a truck in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.

The incident took place in the Fatehganj Paschim area of the district.

According to reports, the accident occurred when the ambulance driver lost control of the vehicle, which slammed through a divider and crossed over to the opposite side of the road before colliding with the truck.

In the incident, seven people died on the spot.

Reportedly, the ambulance was headed for Pilibhit from AIIMS in New Delhi, where Khurshid, a resident of the district’s Pahadpur village, had taken his wife for treatment.

Both Khurshid (55) and his wife Sagiran (52) died in the crash, along with his sister Sameer Bano (45), sons Arif (24) and Asif (20), Hasnain (18), and ambulance driver Mehndi Hasan (32).

However, the bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the inquiry is still ongoing.

It is suspected that the ambulance driver fell asleep behind the wheel, causing the accident.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the loss of lives in the incident.
